Tuition fees
are paid on a per credit or per class basis, which means that your
total tuition payment will correlate to the number of courses you
are taking. As an international student you will have to be a full
time student in order to maintain your residency in Canada. International
students are subject to higher tuition fees than Canadian students.
Fees range widely from school to school and from province to province.
According to the Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada,
the average international undergraduate student pays only $7 100
per academic year, which in combination with lower costs of living,
make Canada an inexpensive place to study. Listed here are rough
approximations of tuition fees for international students in the
1998-99 academic year, for general arts and science programs. Some
specialized programs may exceed fees quoted here

Additional
Fees
In addition to tuition fees, the college or university will require
you to pay other fees to cover various services, which can be as
much as an extra $1000, inclusive of health insurance. Examples
of these fees are as follows: class fees (to cover the use of specialized
facilities), student union fees (to fund student government), Canadian
Federation of Students Fee (the organization in Canada which lobbies
for and protects students rights), accident or sickness insurance,
dental insurance fees, and for all other student services, including
international student centres. These extra fees are mandatory. Health
insurance is another major expense in some provinces and is covered
in a later section.
