Founded in 1929 and headquartered in Pottsville, Pennsylvania,
Empire Beauty Schools over the course of several years established
a large nationwide network of accredited cosmetology schools.
In 2007, Empire consolidated its 37 schools with 51 cosmetology
schools run by Regis Corporation, to form a new super-entity
known as Empire Education Group. The Empire network today
comprises 88 schools across 18 states, making it one of the
largest providers of beauty and cosmetology education in North
America. Most of the schools now under the Empire umbrella
(e.g., Natural Motion Institute, Concorde School of Hair Design,
Scot Lewis Schools, etc.) have retained the names they had
before the merger. This is also true of the original 37 schools
that are still known as Empire Beauty Schools. These 37 schools
are located in 9 different states (Georgia, Illinois, Maryland,
Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania,
and Virginia).
Areas of Study
Empire Beauty Schools offers licensure training programs in
three major fields of study: Cosmetology and Hairstyling,
Nail Technology, and Teacher of Cosmetology courses. All of
these programs provide formal training in communication skills,
salon management and reception, sales techniques, and marketing.
Empire employs the services of an Education Department which
continually improves the school's curriculum and teaching
techniques to maintain industry relevance. Not all programs
are offered at all campuses.
Admissions
Applying to one of Empire's schools is an uncomplicated process.
The easiest way to begin the procedure is to complete an online
form. One of Empire's Admissions Representatives will then
be in touch to answer questions and help complete the enrollment
process.
Faculty
Empire's instructors are well qualified and accomplished in
their field. They are also trained in giving career guidance
and special instruction to their students. Even more importantly,
faculty members can tap in to a large network of industry
professionals to keep current on industry trends and the latest
in teaching and training techniques.
Student Body
Empire's vast national network of schools prepares approximately
20,000 students annually for successful careers in cosmetology.
Students tend to be creative people attracted to the salon
environment and motivated to establish strong client relationships
and become career professionals in the cosmetology field.
Student Life
Every Empire Beauty School is fully equipped with modern salon
furniture and cosmetology tools. Facilities include salon-standard
equipment such as European backwash sinks and individual stylist
stations. Individual Professional Student Kits give students
access to high-end professional tools of the trade which include
shears, texture shears, blow-dryers, clippers, brushes, irons,
and state-of-the-art mannequins.
