From a role working as a security guard for a private firm, company or individual, to doing private investigatory work on your own or for an investigatory service; private security can be interesting and rewarding work. Private security firms may provide services and outsourcing options for corrections facilities, corporations and other businesses, and operations within the government sector.

Some roles that a degree in private security might help you obtain, such as private investigator, bodyguard, or security guard may allow for more freedom to explore a variety of criminal justice related subject areas. These types of roles might not be as strictly confined by the boundaries of more regimented, rule bound roles found in conventional law enforcement positions like police officer or detective.
