CTU Student
By: winter_circle
I have recently graduated from CTU with a B.S in Software
Engineering. It was one of the hardest things I've ever
done. The school does challenge you and you better believe
you have to earn a degree here. CTU has a great virtual
campus and you can tell they put their money into it. It
really is a great learning enviornment. You don't have to
pay extra for books as that is already included in your
tuition. And, you also know when your books are going to
arrive because their communication is excellent. Finally,
this is a very good school. So much so that I've decided
to stay and get my Masters here. Online education is what
you make of it and I usually find those who don't succeed
at online learning lack focus and dedication.
MSM - Information Technology

I just received my final grade this morning for my last
class. I am in the military and found that online learning
fits my schedule. The work load was right on target. The
classes were designed as if I were part of a company and
performing the work for the given employer with each scenario.
This made learning more interesting. CTU does a great job
with the delivery of the classes through the use of their
technology. Most of my instructors provided great feedback
whether good or bad to the quality of work I
submitted. This was valuable insight on how I could have
done things better or more efficiently. Throughout this
whole program, I was encouraged to research harder and deeper
to defend my reasoning. I can assure everyone I had to work
hard for this
degree. Turning in assignments was not a joke. I was expected
by every one of my instructors to find reliable sources
such as peer reviewed sources to back up any of my research
claims. Most of my assignments included up to 15 to 20 citations.
The school
provides a very good library to conduct research.
Another positive aspect of this school is the certificates
I earned in four grouped subject areas of my studies. The
cost of the school may seem high. What masters program doesn't
have a high price?Instructors have to get paid and the school
has to make money. Based on the scale given for rating,
an 8 is still a good value. Education is an investment into
my future. When I retire from the Air Force in two years,
I feel I now have the necessary tools that will help me
get the job I will be searching for.
B.S. Criminal Justice

I literally just finished all of my coursework and I officially
graduate in two days. I must admit that CTU is much like
a brick and mortar institution that I had once attended.
There are many fantastic professors (more often than not)
in this program. They are usually professionals that are
working in the field that they are teaching or they are
recently retired from it. I believe that this gives them
a special insight into each course. Each professor that
I encountered had no less than an accredited master degree
in their field. Although some professors are better than
others I suppose that is what it is like in any college.
There are various significant technological improvements
since I began my attendance at the University. Chief among
these improvements is the TurnItIn.com authentication service
where you can see if your paper is authentic or whether
or not it has been copied somewhere on the internet. The
University also utilizes this technology to route out plagiarism.
I find this tool to be extremely important to any internet
programs credibility.
The BS in Criminal Justice program emphasizes that the
student solve real world projects in order to test their
knowledge. Also there is a peer review and debate processes
in the form of a discussion board where you can get you
paper critiqued by another student and have the opportunity
and duty to critique another students paper. You are
required to post a response to at least two students on
the discussion board and those responses are required to
be substantial. There are also group projects (which I dreaded)
that test your ability to coordinate with people from numerous
different states, background, and in some cases time zones
or even nations. Group projects are quite difficult in many
cases and require the cooperation of the group to make a
good grade. You are given quite a bit of lea way in how
you complete your assignments but all of your assignments
must be completed in the American Psychological Associations
format. Professors are becoming more and stricter on the
APA format so keep that in mind. I personally believe that
the APA format makes assignments more professionally accepted.
Now in the realm of cost, you should note that this particular
program is quite expensive and will set you back about $30,000.00.
All in all I believe that this program taught me to be a
better researcher and opened my eyes culturally with all
of the different types of people that I had to deal with.
All in all it is a good program and it is getting better.
