The Master of Science in Education (M.S.Ed.) degree
with a concentration in literacy was designed by Dominican
University, in cooperation with SkyLight, to focus the
professional growth of educators in an area that is

With a concentration in elementary or middle/secondary
literacy, this program can give your career the boost
it needs by helping you cultivate your reading and literacy
expertise. The M.S.Ed. degree program combines the latest
on instructional strategies with the most effective
tools in quality distance learning and is designed to
meet the demands and needs of educators by linking theory
to best practices in the classroom. The impact is immediate,

The M.S.Ed. degree program employs an interactive mix
of best practice strategy videos and Web-based interaction
to deliver a vibrant learning experience to you in your
home. The user-friendly Blackboard platform is enhanced
by Visibility?, a video feature that brings teaching
strategies to life. You'll have the opportunity to observe
and discuss teaching strategies with ease right from
your living room. All you need is access to the Internet
and a DVD player or VCR.
The M.S.Ed. degree program with a concentration in
literacy is a 32-credit-hour sequential curriculum that
can be completed in as little as 18 months. The maximum
time allowed to complete this program is five years.
Each school year term is 14 weeks in length and is comprised
of two courses that run simultaneously.
The M.S.Ed. degree program is designed to be taken
over five terms. Two courses, each designed as a three-semester-hour
graduate credit course, comprise each term. Course concepts
are reinforced by combining peer interaction, best practice
strategy videos and active applications in a problem-based
inquiry framework. The latest advances in distance education
technology are used to create a productive, rigorous
and enriching educational experience for each participant.
Dominican University's M.S.Ed. degree program with
a concentration in literacy addresses the five core
propositions of the National Board for Professional
Teaching Standards (NBPTS). All of the reading/literacy
