The Master of Education (M.Ed) program is suited to Learners
who want to combine a strong understanding of current theory
and practice in education and/or organizational leadership
with their personal needs and career focus. The program also
provides Learners with the foundational knowledge and skills
necessary for doctoral level study. Curricula reflecting the
preparation guidelines of national learned societies and groups
are designed to provide Learners with an opportunity to select
electives or a specialization and focus their studies on courses
that meet their individual needs.
The specialization in Higher Education Leadership (LHE) offers
M.Ed. Learners with an opportunity to pursue studies in higher
education. Learners pursuing the higher education specialization
are usually seeking to develop their leadership skills and/or
desire to move into faculty roles in higher education. They
may already work at a community college or university and
are seeking job advancement. They may wish to pursue a faculty
position by continuing their studies at the doctoral level.
Coursework may be tailored to complement interests and professional
aspirations within the higher education environment.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent, from an accredited
or approved institution. The equivalent to a Bachelor’s
degree is 120 semester credits of college level coursework,
including a minimum of English composition I and II and a
college-level math course.
