Not Happy |
| early childhood ed |
| I have not even begun classes yet and I am already mad. I was told that my
books and shipping would be covered, then when I go to order books I find
out I only have a 100.00 voucher. The remainder will have to come out of my
pocket. I was told 99% transferable credit. I was 6 classes shy of my BA
when my husband was transfered. Upon entry into the student portal I find I
have to take 40 semester hours when I was told 25. I am not happy at all.
Now I can't reach anyone and I am starting to think this is not the
college for me. Classes start tomorrow and I don't want to begin because I
can not ...Read Full Review |

ASHFORD UNIVERSITY ONLINE IS THE BEST! |
| BA IN Psychology & MA in Teaching with Technology |
| *****The university is REAL, no scams what-so-ever! It is "REGIONAL
ACCREDITED" by the Higher Learning Commission!!!!
Ashford University is a wonderful school! I earned my Ba degree in
Psychology in 2008 & returning this summer(class starts next week) for my
MA degree in Teaching with Technology. The enrollment process has been
GREAT, my Financial Advisor, GREAT!!! The only issue that I had is when I
first enrolled (2006) and was required to take an additional class to
graduate, which was not advised initially..But, I took it & got my degree!
So far, all is well. My admission rep, Karen ...Read Full Review |

BUYER BEWARE |
| Ashford |
| Ashford University is a fraudulent business and it is only a matter of time
before this school and many others are exposed. These so called
"universities" will be the next bubble to burst and millions of people will
be left repaying THOUSDANDS in financial aid for a degree that won't be
worth any more than the paper it's printed on. |

Best school for me |
| BA in Psychology |
| I am in my 3rd class and I like it. I've been to traditional schools even
to an online competitor and I find that Ashford's price plus pathway
towards my degree equals a better fit. I have read many reviews but what
convinced me to go to AU was a disabled neighbor who graduated with a BA
and MA recently.
For me the classes are painless mainly b/c I have a lot of educational
background and work experience. Also at this time in my life I'm more
interested in completing the requirements for my degree rather than
prestige so this program works our for me.
All I can say to the degree snobs o...Read Full Review |

Mixed Feelings About Ashford |
| B.A. -Health Care Studies |
| Background: I started Ashford in Oct. 2009. I have taken 10 classes and
have four left. Last but not least, my grades are A (8) and A- (2). I have
somewhat enjoyed my classes, although they are ridiculously easy.
Pros: The format really makes you feel like progress is being made. The
student portal has great academic resources, including research databases
and a writing center.
Neutral: I have had all ranges of instructors, from great to mediocre, and
even one bad one. I have found the teachers in the majors to be much more
difficult and higher quality.
Cons: Classes are so eas...Read Full Review |

EXCELLENT! |
| MBA |
| I have taken online courses through other schools, and Ashford certainly
marches to the beat of their own drum. Personally, I believe it's a
wonderful thing. I love the organizational piece, how every single class
uses the same weekly due date/grading formulas. This allowed me to
complete my degree without having to figure out new
study/sleep/work/daycare/homework schedules every 6 weeks to accommodate a
new class schedule.
I will agree that there are some students that start off in the lower level
(100 level) classes, who seem to "dumb down" the entire learning process.
I was working...Read Full Review |

Ashford's Financial Aid Department |
| Master's Organization Management (HRM) |
| When a student attend a university for knowledge and real life events, One
would think that you would teach what you preach. Now I have had a great
experience at Ashford so far but my final semester have been rotten with
the Financial Aid department. Student should not have to feel overwhelmed
at a college wondering if their classes are being paid for or not.
Ashford's staff will not be honest with you and tell you what's going on
with your account and here is the banger, Ashford is an University that
teaches us to be honest and their own business is dishonest with students
by not being honest...Read Full Review |

Ashford Offers Higher Standards Than Other Internet Schools |
| Psychology |
| I am currently in my 3rd year at Ashford and am earning a B.A. in
psychology. I completed my first year at Central Florida Community College.
Between the two schools, the academic standards and curriculum levels have
been equivalent. Ashford's course load is heavier since the module-like
format requires more writing and research. That’s one of the trade offs
when you do not commute.
Alleging that Ashford’s accredited classes are below college level
standards is an underhanded accusation. Since each class is rigidly
structured, this college’s learning style proves to be too monotonous for s...Read Full Review |

It's not supposed to be easy. |
| Social and Criminal Justice |
| I am nearing graduation in my program. I attented a community college and
then a state university for about two years, and most of my credits
transferred; I can't complain about that. The intake counselor I has was
great, very helpful. The teachers have mostly been very good, some of them
highly regarded in criminal justice, and only a couple didn't have a lot of
real world experience (two teachers are pretty much career academics, but
at least have doctorate degrees). This is a full-time load, and it's a lot
of work. If you aren't able to work hard at it, try another school. To the
poste...Read Full Review |

Ashford is great for the price |
| Psychology |
| I graduated in 2008 with a BA/Psychology from AU. Excellent school for the
money. I am currently a graduate student at a state school here in Kansas.
The ground campus is highly ranked by "U.S. News and World Report". My
degree has helped me in my profession as well. Plus, I needed my bachelor's
to get into graduate school. Overall, I rate Ashford a 10 for people that
want to learn and reach their full potential.

Finacial aid |
| master |
| The university made an accounting mistake that was not applied until after
graduation. They would not take any resposibility for the mistake and I am
now paying off that mistake. Before you graduate using financial aid,
check all numbers because they do not. This was caught by Dept. of Ed.
That's what I was told. It is difficult to get any type of paper ledger or
bill to review from them. Also, their online Masters of Organizational
Management was not very good. There was only one or two teachers who were
up to a Masters level of instruction. The courses were redundant. I would
not re...Read Full Review |

I think Ashford is alright |
| Social Sciences ed |
| I have not had any major problems here. A high degree of emphasis is place
on critical thinking, and there is a great deal of writing involved. If you
are looking for an easy degree, it is not at Ashford. Instructors expect
college level students to understand assignments. In the beginning there
was some poorly written posts, and I would assume that many of them dropped
out. I attended a traditional college and maintained a 4.0 GPA, here it is
a 3.9-so if you are looking for a free ride this is not the place, however,
if you want to be proficient in the course you graduate from, just put in
th...Read Full Review |

Its been a good time for the most part. |
| Social and Criminal Justice |
| After attending a traditional college and university, I was very
skeptical about attempting an online college. I have a co-worker who
completed Ashford and spoke very highly of it. I was out of college for
18 years after completing an AAS in Criminal Justice before I decided to
give Ashford a call.
After speaking with my academic advisor, I was convinced Ashford was
the way to go for me. The first 5 weeks was very disappointing as they
allowed 70 credits to transfer from my previous schooling. I was NOT
trained on the BB very well at all so my very first grade was an F. I

Great experience at Ashford |
| B.A. in Organizational Management |
| I don't understand how someone could have a bad experience? The process of
enrollment, ordering books and taking classes online is quite simple. If
you are computer literate, motivated and disciplined with your time you
should have no problems. I am currently a student at Ashford with one more
class to graduate with a B.A. in Organizational Management. My experience
with Asford has been excellent. I was skeptical at first, but I did plenty
of research and decided Ashford fit my needs. I originally transferred 75
credits(the maximim allowed at the time) from a traditional campus
university I ha...Read Full Review |

Poor feedback from instructors |
| Organizational Management |
| I am now in my 6th class at Ashford University. I am 42 years old and have
been in my current career for 18 years. I was looking for an online
environment that was challenging but still allowed me to be flexible.
There has been several issues with ordering books. My last class they
actually ran out of the books in the bookstore, and they did not arrive
until the 4th week. I now make sure to order the books weeks ahead of
time, using ebay or amazon to save money.
The online environment, what they call "blackboard" is extremely confusing
and took me several classes to become comforta...Read Full Review |

Good online education |
| Psychology |
| My current class has 18 students. The lower level classes may have a bit
more.
The first class you take - no matter how many credits you come onboard
with, is to help you identify your long term goals and it will introduce
you to the online process. That class has all types of students, and many
will drop out once they realize that this is a real degree and not a joke.
During your first class you will have to take an English Language Arts
Proficiency exam - you can take it when you are ready and there is a
tutoring website to help you prepare. If you fail it you can prepare again
and then t...Read Full Review |

Not sure |
| BA in Psychology |
| I am in my second class at AU and recently have started my developing some
doubts about my decision to attend here. Granted, I'm only in week two, the
instructors don't seem to be professional or organized. The grading system
seems to be a little "off." Students are getting full points for discussion
posts that aren't written clearly, correctly, or precisely covering all
points specified. I haven't had any trouble with financial aid or anything
else, I just don't feel like I can really get a 50 thousand dollar
education here. Hopefully the classes will become more involved, as I am in
level 10...Read Full Review |

Ashford review |
| Bachelors in health care administration |
| I'm pursuing my bachelors in health care administration. I am enjoying my
experience at Ashford. Some professors require more detail than others but
I am the type of person who enjoys the challenge. After navigating through
blackboard and becoming familiar with assignment procedures, I have
officially became a pro. I just had a chance to review my degree audit and
I'm so pleased with the layout. My transcripts have been applied towards my
future course scheduling. All of the degree requirements are lined in black
and white and I have a clear understanding on the courses needed for the
completi...Read Full Review |

Positive Experience |
| Psychology |
| I am currently enrolled with Ashford to obtain my Bachelor's in Psychology.
I am not very far along as of yet but I was curious about how others
feel/felt about Ashford so I decided to Google it and see what I could
find.
I read through most of the posts, both good and bad, and I have to weigh in
with my opinion. I see quite a bit about not getting responses back and
having difficulty with money and/or feedback. I have to say that I'm about
to enter my fourth class and I've not experienced any problems with
communication, feedback or money. I am a FAFSA student and I've not
received any in...Read Full Review |

Not that great |
| Online Bachelors in Sociology |
| I am currently a student in Ashford's Online Sociology Bachelor's degree.
Let me start by saying that I did not qualify for financial aid, so I
really can't write much about that. They pay for my books because I am a
military spouse (or so they said, it seems they pay for a lot of books for
a lot of people). The school is a real, physical school with several online
programs. Obviously the online programs are the school's cash cows. Because
we are an Army family, we have moved around a lot, so I had to go to an
online school. I chose Ashford because I found it on a list of online
schools and pr...Read Full Review |

Bad policies |
| Criminal Justice |
| I have enrolled at Ashford, I am about to start my 3rd class there. The
first instructor I had was great, the second...not so much. My biggest
complaint is that I was awarded financial aid and they have pretty much
stole it from me. I am a veteran and I receive TA, which pays for my
schooling 100% from the Army. Ashford told me that they are holding 1500 of
my financial aid for my next 2 classes, even though they have been paid in
full for my courses taken and are guaranteed to get a check from the Army
for any future ones. Then they told me that they are holding 70% of my
financial aid until ...Read Full Review |

Financial aid mess |
| Business |
| First off, I'm still enrolled and about to finish my first class. I'm
pretty upset with the entire experience. I was very cautious when I signed
up. I told my enrollment adviser I wanted all my financial aid taken care
of prior to starting classes. She pushed me in a nice way. Every day 2-3
emails and at least 1 phone call. Trying to get me under way. I was
suspicious and kept to my guns saying that I wouldn't start until I found
out about the financial aid. I did all the paperwork on my end right away.
I guess that is where I faltered. I didn't waste any time getting my end
done and fully exp...Read Full Review |
