after completing my 4 year degree focused on programming (3.8 gpa), i am
still unable to get even an entry level position in the programming field
due to lack of "depth of knowledge". they may show the basics but thats
where it ends.
currently classes are in 8 week sessions and 2 sessions make up a
semester.
you may meet once or twice a week at the most for upto 2 hours of
instruction (most classes leave early) 8-16 hours worth of lecture and
simple assignments just dont cut it. (it also doesnt matter if the
assignment is correct, just the fact that you turned "something" in counts
as full credit) all quizes are open book and typically are word for word
from powerpoint presentations (no need to crack open a book here)
midterms.... well its the previous quizes ...word for word.. final u say?
well its a combination of the midterm and previous quizes and is also open
book/open note... if a devry final takes you more than 15 minutes.. then
you probably cant read.
devry wants your money and will promise anything to get it. the career
services dept where they offer to help you a job is mostly job postings
from dice or monster that you could have done on your own.
4yr degree in 3yrs.. cool. 60k in financial aid payments and unqualified
for entry level work ...not cool. not cool at all.
