I am currently a UMUC finance student and active duty military. I have been
attending this school since 2006 and I have enjoyed my experience. The
flexibility that the online degree program offers is excellent, especially
when you work in a unit with a high ops tempo.
I don't have any complaints as far as the school is concerned: I feel that
I am getting a quality education, most of the professors I've had have
outstanding credentials, and financial aide and student advisory has been
adequate. To be honest, my only concern for the school is outsider
perception. That being said, it appears that students from this school are
widely sought after by employers (government/private) in the
maryland/Washington D.C. area, which is awesome--if you live or plan on
living in that area. This makes sense since many UMUC students do tend to
be disciplined working adults, and not-to-mention, people with a military
background.
Before going to this school I recommend researching the schools of interest
to employers from the field you'd like to work in. If you're just trying to
get some general credits, this school is fine without doing any
research--your credits WILL transfer.
